Hooeys Win 4th Straight ICHC Championship!
Division 3 Hockey at Indiana University took home the ICHC Championship YET AGAIN this past weekend defeating Miami with a score of 8-0. Credit the shutout to senior netminder Matt Turner. Turner faced 19 shots turning them all away to propel the Hoosiers to their 4th ICHC championship in four years. Matt explained, “A shutout was just icing on the cake and a huge confidence booster going into regionals.” Senior James Young led the team with two goals, followed by six different scorers throughout the rest of the game. The Hoosiers went undefeated in the ICHC this season, posting 10 wins for 30 points in the conference standings. Junior Sam Markwood led the ICHC with 42 points this season, 20 goals and 22 assists. The Hoosiers’ next game will be played on March 8th against Ferris State University. “We have a lot of firepower that we’re bringing (this year) and the team’s morale and chemistry has never been higher” Turner shared when asked about the upcoming regional matchup. The last time Indiana faced Ferris State was back in October of 2018, suffering a 7-6 overtime loss then coming back with a 5-2 win the following day. The game will be played at Suburban Ice in East Lansing. Go Hoosiers!
